Upcoming General Election -
October 10, 2009 1PM at the club.
Two director's positions are open
for election. Their term of office is 3 years, as of
January 1, 2010. Bill York and Linda Shields have been
nominated to fill the upcoming vacancies. If you cannot
vote in person you can vote by email, or stop by the
club and leave a ballot with the bartender on duty.
Darts - Many
thanks to George, and all the others who volunteered
their time, resources and efforts to remodeling the
darts room.
July 19, 2009 - we are open Monday - Saturday, darts
night is Thursday. Jam night - bring your instruments -
Wednesday evenings. Wine
Tasting - the last one was great - expect a date soon.
Lisa is our manager and bartender, Brandie,
Craig, Rich, Bill, Marjorie and David are volunteer
bartenders.
MEMBERSHIPS
October 11 2008 - WE ARE OPEN AS OF
TODAY! We got the certificate of occupancy and are
opening as of 4:00PM today.
October 4 2008 - Wireless internet has been installed and is
working - you can get the encryption key from any of the
staff.
BOARD NOTE - Rich Cafiero is
the Club's President. Bill Hon - Vice President
and David Birch is the Secretary/Treasurer. This is the
result of the elections held at the general membership
meeting in October. Jack Sweeney and Craig Pfeiffer fill
the two director's positions.
In accordance with the by-laws we hold our official Board of
Director's meetings on the first Saturday of each month
at 1:00PM - normally at the club. Members are invited to attend
these meetings to provide feedback to the board. The
only exception to this is when we hold an executive
session board meeting, we will announce any change in
advance of the meeting in that case.
Wednesday June 1, 2006 the
Santa Fe City Council met and voted on an ordinance that
would ban smoking in businesses in Santa Fe, including
private clubs. We have been exempted from this smoking
ban. You may have read in the paper that there were two
exemptions, we were one of them and remain the only
established cigar club in the city of Santa Fe.
UPDATE - July 1, 2007 - most of the new
laws that were signed by Governor Richardson go into
effect. The good news is that not only are we exempt
from the City-wide ban, but we are also exempt under the
new state law.
One more important change, as a
result of this ordinance - no one under the age of 18
will be allowed in the club after July 1, 2006, the
rules reminder sheet (available in the club) also has
been changed to reflect this.

Membership Notes:
Punch
Cards - $25.00 for a punch card - good for
10 visits to the club.
- membership dues
are good for one year from the time of the
application.
Membership forms - new membership forms are
in the club. We also have some rules and
procedures reminders for members if needed. The membership
fee is now $150.00 per year. Anyone who has
paid will be considered current, plus the
extension for the time the club has been in
rebuild. If you have input
to the board, plan on being at the annual
October business meeting.
Thanks to
all who have volunteered to help make this
club more successful!
New Membership Types:
Concierge memberships: we have donated a
membership for hotel concierges. This is
to allow guests of their hotels to be
signed in as that concierge's guest. This
is ONLY for hotel guests who are looking
for a place to enjoy a cigar, pipe, etc
while visiting Santa Fe.
We are also planning to reintroduce
Company Memberships. Some possible
permutations include:
- group purchases of individual
memberships for named employees at a
discount;
- a single mass membership
that would cover everyone with an employee
ID; or
„- some combination of the above.
Those of you who own companies and are interested in obtaining
memberships for you and your staffs are
invited to offer suggestions as to how
this option could best serve your needs.
*The current addresses on file with the
manager of the club constitute what we
know to be the best means of contact for
all members of the club. Returned mail
will be held and discarded on the day of
the annual meeting. If you do not receive
this letter both by regular and electronic
mail, please contact Spencer to verify
that we have your correct addresses.
Rule Changes: The Board of Directors meets
the last Saturday of every month. We will
endeavor to keep everyone updated as to
any changes in rules and procedures.
Accordingly, the board has passed the
following:
- Guest cards will be valid for a
maximum of three visits to the club,
subject to modification at the discretion
of the manager. After three visits we will
request the guest then purchase a
membership.
- Membership Renewals: there are still
some members who have not renewed their
memberships as of the first of April. The
grace period for renewal is 30 days. A
member can request a leave of absence (out
of town for an extended period, etc.).
Renewal after the 30 day period will
require payment for the entire year.
Memberships are for one year from the date
of joining.
- We will be offering legislative
session cards, good for the duration of
the session. There will be a one time fee
of $25.00 per card, the holder of this
card would have access to the club,
without requiring a member to sign them
in. The club manager or bartender can
issue these cards.
